A creative response to Instinctive by Nicolette Polek

In the hermitage, I hear a clatter. In emptiness, I mill about. Usually, I am quiet, silence in shoes. But today, after encountering the sound, I want a door to open, something high to climb. That night I dream of prying open a dolphin’s mouth to retrieve my necklace. The dolphin kindly tells me that love is the only real power of influence. I abide, and wake up with a fountain of words, from which I collect bowls and bowls.
